Many of you know that I have a heart for missions and have been asking me if I have any plans to go on another trip. Well after much prayer I have decided I will be going to Nepal this year. I have had a number of friends go to Nepal on short term trips which has put the desire in my heart to go as well. I will be leaving in May and plan to come home the end of August.
God has opened the door for me to go with The Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. This is a solid missions group who has been working in Asian countries for a long time. ABWE runs a short term program called IMPACT and they have been so gracious to plan a trip to Nepal just for me.
Nepal is the world’s only Hindu Kingdom. It is nestled between China and India and holds the world’s highest mountain, Mt. Everest. It is considered to be one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world.
I will be flying into the capital city of Kathmandu and living in an orphanage called Abba’s House. Along with my work in the orphanage I will also spend time working at the bible college ABWE runs. The orphanage and bible college are run through a church ABWE has in Kathmandu. The orphanage is run by a Nepalese couple, David and Ruth, and has about 20 kids living there right now. There is also a single missionary gal, Jenn Hand, who lives about a 2min. walk from the orphanage and I will have the opportunity to work with her as well.
The greatest need I have as I set out on this new adventure is prayer. Please pray for Nepal, which has been currently in strife over internal and political upheaval. Pray that the hearts of the people there will be open to hear the gospel. Also pray for Jenn, that God would open up doors for her to serve the Nepalese people and be a witness to them. And then pray for me as I prepare for this journey. Pray that I will be sensitive to the needs of everyone around me, that God will give me the strength I need to complete the tasks He gives me, that I will keep a servant’s attitude and that I will stay in good health while I’m there.

Well this is just a little blog I set up for anyone who wants to stay updated on my time getting ready for and living in Nepal. I will try to update it as much as possible but I can't promise anything! I am so thankful for all the prayers and support everyone has given me. I love you all so much and can't thank you enough for everything!
